K & M Barkery is Appleseed Valley/Clearfork Veterinary's very own pet bakery! Kerri and Meg have been making dog treats for years, but recently decided to use their love of baking for a good cause. They prepare healthy, delicious treats for your four legged family members.

Kerri and Meg use only the finest, quality ingredients and all recipes have been approved by our doctors. Their treats are actually good for your pet! Treats are made specifically for those canines with delicate stomachs, sensitive skin, allergies and even major health issues like diabetes.

CAT TREAT RECIPES
Cheesy Treats

Ingredients:

    3/4 cup shredded or grated cheddar cheese
    3/4 cup whole wheat flour
    1/4 cup plain yogurt (no sugar added)
    2 tbsp. cornmeal
    2 tbsp. wheat germ
    5 tbsp. grated parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine all dry ingredients thoroughly. Add yogurt and mix in to dough (water can be added if too dry, or more wheat flour can be added if too sticky). Knead the dough until mixed well. Roll dough out to 1/4 inch. You can use cookie cutters or just cut dough in to 1" pieces. Place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 25 minutes.If you would like biscuits to be hard and have a maximum shelf life, turn off oven after recommended time and leave treats in while it cools. This will dry them out for a crunchier treat.
Chicken Cookies

Ingredients:

    1 1/2; cups cooked chicken, shredded (can be canned variety, drain first)
    1 cup whole wheat flour 1/2 cup chicken broth
    3 tbsp. ground flax (can substitute wheat germ or corn meal)
    1 tbsp. softened margarine (room temperature, not melted)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine chicken, broth and margarine thoroughly. Add ground flax and flour to chicken mixture gradually while mixing. Knead the dough until mixed well. Roll dough out to 1/4 inch. You can use cookie cutters or just cut dough in to 1" pieces. Place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20 minutes. If you would like biscuits to be hard and have a maximum shelf life, turn off oven after recommended time and leave treats in while it cools. This will dry them out for a crunchier treat.
Tuna Crunchies

Ingredients:

    6-8 ounce tuna in vegetable oil
    3/4 cup whole wheat flour
    1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (fresh catnip or wheat grass is a good substitute)
    water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Break up tuna pieces so they are soft (easier when done with a fork). Mix tuna, flour and parsley together thoroughly. Add small amounts (1 tbsp. at a time)of water gradually until dough consistency. Roll dough out to 1/4 inch. You can use cookie cutters or just cut dough in to 1" pieces. Place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 20 minutes. If you would like biscuits to be hard and have a maximum shelf life, turn off oven after recommended time and leave treats in while it cools. This will dry them out for a crunchier treat. Turn oven off, though leave tray in until oven has completely cooled. (This will help to dry out the biscuits further, and therefore help the treats keep for longer).
DOG TREAT RECIPES
Apple Cheddar Biscuits

Ingredients:

    2 cups whole wheat flour
    1/2 cup old fashioned oats
    1/3 cup shredded or grated cheddar cheese
    1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
    1/3 cup applesauce (unsweetened)
    2 tbsp. olive oil

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix all ingredients together; add 3 tbsp. water to form dough. Add more water if too dry, add more flour if dough too sticky. Roll dough out to 1/4 inch. You can use cookie cutters or just cut dough in to 1" pieces. Place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 30 minutes. If you would like biscuits to be hard and have a maximum shelf life, turn off oven after recommended time and leave treats in while it cools. This will dry them out for a crunchier treat. Turn oven off, though leave tray in until oven has completely cooled. (This will help to dry out the biscuits further, and therefore help the treats keep for longer). Store in airtight container.
Peanut Butter Banana Muffins

Ingredients:

    1 egg
    2 tbsp. honey
    2 bananas, mash well with fork
    1/4 cup peanut butter
    3 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Whisk together egg, honey, bananas and peanut butter. Stir in 3 cups water, mixing until smooth. In a separate bowl, mix all dry ingredients. Add gradually to the egg mixture. Spray 12 muffin cups (or use liners) and fill each cup three quarters full. Bake for 30 minutes, or until browned. Cool completely. Store in an airtight container in fridge.
